Mohamed Faisal joined NTU as a Senior Research Fellow in the Air Traffic Management Research Institute and he is also the Deputy Director responsible for the strategic planning and management of ATM related research and development programs. 
With over 20 years of combined experienced in Aviation-Engineering and R&D Programme Management, Mr Faisal is able to bring his industrial experiences into the domain of R&D in ATM.  Prior to joining ATMRI, Mr Faisal had taken up wide ranging profiles. He started with Ministry of the Environment as testing and commissioning engineer for new plant installations. He then joined Singapore Airlines (SIA) Engineering Company as a Technical Services Engineer and moved up to be a Design Signatory (Avionics), Chief Engineer and Fleet Manager providing world-class suite of services to international airlines. During this period, he worked closely with Regulatory Authorities such as FAA, EASA, CAAS, HKCAD and including OEMs such as Airbus & Boeing. He also undertook the role of R&D Programme Manager in VESTAS and developed the concept of Condition Based Operation & Advanced Forecasting for Wind Turbines. Mr Faisal was also the Head of Group Engineering in Tiger Airways Holdings Ltd which he played an instrumental role in establishing best practices and state-of-the-art engineering & maintenance standards among the Cubs in the Asia Pacific Region.
Mr. Faisal holds a B. Eng, Electrical (Hons) and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Systems Engineering from the National University of Singapore. 
Research Interests
Mr Faisal’s current research interest includes Traffic Management of Unmanned Aircraft Systems – Enabling Efficient and Safe Operations in Urban Airspace and Regional Airspace Capacity Enhancement.
