The current practice of transmitting weather condition information to pilots usually takes a few hours. Hence the
Air Traffic Management Research Institute at NTU is researching on how this practice can be hastened. Dr Hsin Chen Chung, Director of the Air Traffic Management Research Institute, said, “Many different types of data coming from meteorological satellites, radars and sensors, should be combined. In the worse scenario, the weather update takes up to about six hours. If we can shorten this time, it will of course be of benefit to aviation safety.” - Also on
